My favorite internet joke…this week…is a Simpsons inspired classic. It’s from the 1994 "Deep Space Homer" episode:

“The spacecraft has apparently been taken over,”conquered” if you will, by a master race of giant space ants. It’s difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.” – Kent Brockman

It’s usually found as a non sequitur on message boards in the following form: “I, for one, welcome our new (subject of post) overlords.” For example, a discussion on hypoallergenic cats would spawn, “I, for one, welcome our new genetically enhanced feline overlords.” I also find it easy to use in daily conversation. But then I’m evil and take great joy in mocking you foolish humans.

Here are a few more examples:

“I, for one, welcome our new pricey, mutant piscene overlords.”

“I, for one, welcome our new tool using avian overlords.”

“I, for one, welcome our new mind-control ray weilding overlords.”

“I, for one, welcome our new delicious exterrestrial overlords.”

“I, for one, welcome our new sartorially inept, cyborg geek overlords.”

I, for one, welcome our new lazy evil overlord.
