Mea culpa. No, really. I’ve managed to kill my fish again.

When I first moved to Houston I brought three goldfish with me; Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. After I’d been here a while I moved them into a larger tank and added Mojo. Then I had to upsize the bowl I kept them in while I cleaned the tank. I think I rinsed it insufficiently and the soap killed my fish. Mojo and The Girls died over a couple of days and were fed to some local turtles.

I don’t know what happened this time. Le Bec, Tubby, and Bravo have all gone ad patres. Goldfish may not seem like much as pets, but The Crewe were always happy to see me (because I fed them) and were a bright spot in any day. Bravo would lead the way wiggling like a puppy in the top corner of the tank waiting for the food; the very aptly named Tubby would follow thrashing and banging the tank cover; Le Bec would rise to a safe middle distance, ready to dodge back to the bottom of the tank.

I’m going to gather my fishy friends and find some turtles.

Ave atque vale!
